Transfer molding (Fig. 15) is similar to compression molding, except that the charge of molding compound is heated to 300–350 °F in a separate chamber; transferred by a ram under heat and pressure into a closed die where the shape of the part is determined and cure takes place in usually 45–90 s.The process is used for small intricate parts requiring tight dimensional tolerances.
